4. Data Collection: Techniques for collecting data, including interviewing and media management.
5. Human Element: Understanding the role of human factors such as fatigue and risk management in accidents and the implementation of the ISM Code.
6. Reporting: Techniques for analysing data and preparing reports, including the use of GISIS and the CIC Code and Guidelines for its Implementation.
7. Setting-up the Scene: Methodology for setting up the scene of an accident investigation.
8. Categories of Casualties: Understanding different types of marine casualties, including grounding, collisions, fire, stability foundering, pollution etc., through case studies such as Estonia, Samina, Spring Glory, Star Princess.
